
This surgical specialty involves the restoration or reconstruction of various sections of the human body, for clinical or cosmetic purposes. This surgical specialty can be divided into two main categories: Reconstructive surgery and Cosmetic surgery. Reconstructive surgery is done to correct impairments caused by burns; traumatic injuries, such as facial bone fractures and breaks; congenital abnormalities, developmental abnormalities; infection and disease; and cancers or tumours. Cosmetic surgery is usually performed to improve the appearance or look of a person. It is a voluntary or elective surgery that is performed on the human body with the sole purpose of improving a person’s appearance and/or removing signs of aging.
